IN FULL BLOOM( APRIL 6TH )
april 6 ↴ MINI EVENT: IN FULL BLOOM It's unlikely you see the catalyst of this event, or at least understand it. The entirety of Asgard can be, and frequently is tied to the Gods that protect it and what they have dominion over. The latent curses that Wanderers have sprung upon them are intangible proof, but when it comes to a God like Sigyn...her ties to the world are much more visible, apparent.
She's holed herself up in her district, tending to the earth with her hands and tools, like a human would. It distracts her, makes it easier to force her mind to feel things it isn't otherwise. Most Gods would know this comes with side effects; if snapped out of the state, she would as well. Right now, it's not so pressing a matter.
Her emotional unsteadiness doesn't come out as ugly or marred as one might imagine -- no, if you're standing outside when the magic takes effect, you'll be surprised to see large clumps of flowers curling up from the earth and blooming blossoms larger than they should be almost immediately after coming into complete existence. Some locations for these plants make no sense, taking root anywhere they please. Maybe in a patch of soil, or maybe on the side of a wall. Your roof, your bathtub, the very sleeve of your shirt.
Their sudden appearance may cause you alarm, enough to stay away on instinct. It's likely for naught, with just how plentiful they are. Smelling their aroma or coming into contact with their pollen is basically an inevitability. And when you do...something strange will happen.
- ASPHODEL → This flower will cause the feeling of soul-crushing regret and guilt. What's the one thing that you regret the most? The one thing you would change if you could turn back time? It's time to have that thrown back in your face for the next twelve hours, assuming you're not exposed to this pollen again. In the case that there is no big thing that you regret or feel guilty about, it'll be some small minor thing that has been exacerbated in your mind by the pollen to the point that it is now a big deal as well.
- CARNATION → After coming into contact with this flower, you feel a pull of absolutely clinginess that draws you towards someone you have some degree of fondness for, be it romantic or platonic in nature. There's this niggling feeling that won't stop pestering you, that you simply have to be in close proximity to this person. Hovering, observing, touching. Once you are? The feeling goes away. This magic tether lasts throughout the day, despite how your target may feel about it. If for some reason you can't be near this person, like they force you away by some magical means, your desperation strengthens as the proximity remains broken.
- EDELWEISS → This one will cause you to become extremely reckless. It goes beyond developing or exacerbating a hero complex. It's like experiencing l'appel du vide for twelve hours and actually listening to it. You won't be very susceptible to reason without some magic to put a stop to you, and your sense of consequence? Completely out the window.
- POPPY → Upon close contact with these flowers, you experience mild to severe synesthesia for anywhere from ten minutes to a couple of hours. Your senses mingle. You smell colours, see sounds. It often comes with a very mild sense of euphoria, but some find it disorienting instead.
- GENTANIA → When's the last time you had a good night's sleep? A few days? Weeks? Prior to ever showing up here? Here, let's help with that. The pollen from Gentania andrewsii, commonly known as a closed or bottle gentian, will instantly put anyone who comes in contact with it to sleep. It doesn't matter if they're sitting, standing, driving or swimming. They will fall into a deep sleep, varying anywhere from six to twelve hours. For the duration of that time, they will experience vivid nightmares, and will only awaken after experiencing sleep paralysis.
- IRIS → Apparently you're allergic to this flower. Don't worry, everyone else is too. Contact with this pollen causes a painful burning sensation. Don't scratch or rub at it, because that'll only cause it to spread. Washing the afflicted area or applying any sort of ointment or balm won't help. Tough it out. It'll only last a couple of hours.
The flowers definitely overstay their welcome, as does their magic. The blooms themselves will fall off and uproot themselves from their unnatural settings after about a week. The magic? It sticks with the plants for a whole day. The curse you're hit with might not last as long, but this means being careful: there's always the chance of being afflicted again. Maybe with two curses at once!
How will you know the curse is over? Maybe if you can put two and two together, you'll wake up in the morning and notice stepping outside doesn't...smell the way it usually does. The grass, any stray flowers, trees. None of them have any whiff of a scent. MOD NOTES This is the April mini-event before our bigger event later in the month! Note that you can stack flower curse effects except for the Gentania curse that puts someone to sleep. |

You going okay so far?
no subject
Of course! It's just a wall.
[ A very tall wall. ]
no subject
[She usually seems more content to let Sora and Riku do this sort of thing while she watches and draws their antics or something. So he can't help but to be somewhat confused with this. And still trying to get close enough that his fingers might just brush against her shoes as he climbs up with her.]
no subject
[ He's entirely right to wonder about it, but she tilts her head back at him like it hasn't even occurred to her that anything is off. ]
Well, I can't let you guys have all the fun, can I?
[ Even though that's usually precisely what she does. Catching sight of him getting a bit closer than she expects, she ends up with one side of her smile rising a bit higher than the other as she turns to face back toward the wall. And-- well, now she's actually trying to keep away from him in a quiet attempt to tease him, so good luck with that, Sora. ]
no subject
[He says, not judging or anything, just. An observation. In her trying something she hasn't previously shown interest in? He's not put out by it or anything. Aside from his desire to be closer to her anyway. He's just confused, perhaps. As he follows her with the climb up. He could probably go quicker but he's trying to make sure she is alright and doesn't want to go around her and need to look down to check how she was managing.]
no subject
That's because I haven't.
[ Which should probably be concerning, considering how high up they already are - though that's what the safety equipment is for. ]
But not because I've never wanted to. I was just-- too afraid.
no subject
[He catches up, not needing to stop himself yet, coming up higher, more closer to be able to reach a hand to her back in some reassurance and encouragement. That and he just. Can't currently help wanting to be closer to her.]
no subject
I think it is. [ For now, anyway. Tomorrow she'll probably be mortified. ] It's strange - I can't even remember why I was so scared in the first place. There's nothing bad about this.
no subject
[The same as most anything, really. It just took the flowers influence for her to start. To try it. And apparently, if that smile and thrill of hers is anything to go by, enjoy it. Even if the first time might be more challenging in her not necessarily being as fit for such things. That could come in time.]
no subject
Maybe next time, I won't be scared again.
[ With that said - she glances upward. It was a nice rest, but, ]
Speaking of which, we've still got farther to climb right now.
[ Although they've already gotten pretty high up as it is. Turning her smile over at him with a gently teasing, ]
Unless you're already exhausted...?
no subject
[Not a lie. And also not meant to make her feel bad or anything. He's just mindful of her inexperience with such things prior. Which is totally, obviously, why he must clearly feel that urge to be so close. It can't be any other reason, like that flower. No.
Sora smirks at her teasing, taking that as a challenge in continuing because of course he would, reaching to keep going.]
no subject
[ To prove it, she'll start off again herself - a bit slower than before, but progressing all the same. Now she makes the effort to keep pace with him instead of leading the way; her limbs are tired but her mind is willing to keep up the effort. ]
no subject
[Sora continues the climb, reaching with his arms and pulling himself up with his legs as he goes. He's not going too fast, in being mindful of her being a little more tired yet and not as used to such physical activities as Sora is. But he does check she seems to be managing okay during it as they make their way to the top.]
no subject
I think you won...!
[ He was probably doing better than she was for the last part of that. ]
no subject
[He's gonna reach if she needs a hand in making it to the top to rest for a bit, offering her his support if she needs it. Offering for them to rest for a bit before making their way back down if she needs to do so. Smiling and relieved she made it okay, if tired.]
no subject
… Far, far below, she realizes suddenly. Her frown is gradual, but - all at once, the flower begins to wear off, and with each passing moment she gets a little bit paler, a little bit more perplexed, until finally, ]
-- Um. Sora...?
no subject
[He's perceptive enough to note she seems a little pale. That frown. Sora tilts his head in wondering if she's alright from that. He just figured to let her rest if she seems a little tired before heading back down. Not wanting her to overdo it in pushing herself especially when she is newer to this.]
no subject
I just feel dizzy all of a sudden...!
[ And scared. ]
no subject
[He gives a small demonstration, sending himself just slightly further down. Still enough that he's well within reach to help her if she needs it. They could handle getting down quicker in comparison at least.]
no subject
[ She murmurs it with firmly closed eyelids, but it sounds faint even in her own ears. No matter her sudden fear, though, she can't help but look when he demonstrates, the rushing sound of the tether urging her to peer down at him over her shoulder. He makes it look easy enough, yet she feels her stomach turn at the thought.
Except... she made it up here in the first place, didn't she? And she wasn't afraid then. Swallowing dryly, Naminé tries to remind herself of that. ]
… Right, [ she agrees belatedly, looking a bit like she's going to be ill. ] Abseiling.
[ Gathering herself, she makes a hesitant hop. It's not as effective as she'd like, her reluctance pulling her back joltingly to stillness against the wall again before she's gone quite as far down as he has. ]
no subject
[He tries to encourage her, still not going down too much farther than she was. In wanting to keep close in reassuring her as they slowly make progress and he praises her each time she hauls down even a little. It's progress, however slow. There's no rush about it so he doesn't mind.]
no subject
I'm sorry, [ she says presently, quietly enough that anyone farther away than he is might have trouble hearing. ] I don't-- know what came over me all of a sudden.
no subject
[He says when they make it down to the ground again. Unsure exactly what had happened with her but relieved she is alright at least. That's the important thing, as she gets down and he helps remove their harnesses.]
no subject
[ But she seems a bit bemused about it all as they extricate themselves from the equipment - or he helps her do so, rather. Somewhere in all of it, the edelweiss she's had tucked behind her ear this whole time gets knocked loose, tumbling to the ground. ]
-- Oh. I... [ That's right. Now that she thinks about it, ] I forgot I was wearing that.
[ Which feels a bit peculiar, in retrospect. ]
no subject
[Not that he wasn't already affectionate but the flower hadn't helped that situation. At the least, it had been hard to really stay quite so clingy to her with the rock climbing practice like that anyway. As he notes he still has his attached to his short sleeved jacket.]
