EVENT LOG: UNITY FESTIVAL.

UNITY FESTIVAL( FEB 25TH - 27TH )

On the dawn of the 25th the cold, windy weather gives way to warmer sunshine. Sigyn has made sure that, for the duration of the festival at least, it’s nice enough to venture outside. Despite the disruption caused by Skadi, by Frigg on the 19th trying to overzealously repair things and then on the 23rd by Mimir’s magical hiccup the month has so far been a prosperous one. Newly arrived Wanderers are finding their feet, and having chosen their patron gods are now taking on new jobs alongside the veterans of Asgard. Working directly for the gods so officially is a brave new world for everyone involved, and the success of all this calls for a celebration...

FESTIVAL PREPARATIONS!

In the early morning sunshine, Wanderers awake to a buzz of activity. Preparations for the Unity Festival are underway, and you are all expected to do your part! While the main focus is the palace lawn, where the actual festival will take place, excitement is already spilling out into each district.

Before the decorations even begin going up, each god is ready to inject a little spirit into their own area.

Those who live in ODIN’s district find books narrating the activities of Wanderers who hold them, while those who live in NJORD’s have songs of their exploits keeping everyone entertained. SKADI has put on an art display featuring art by and of Wanderers, while SIGYN has made sure flowers bloom brightly for the occasion underfoot where you walk. TYR invites all of you to face and overcome your fears via his reflective illusions, while HEIMDALL wants you to train to defend yourself with animated dummies. MIMIR prefers to train a Wanderer’s mind with puzzle games and mazes, some of which may require a friend to complete, while HONIR wants to encourage curiosity and travel with immersive experiences via his scattered photos and souvenirs. If all that is too much, FRIGG has set up a quiet area to get away from it all. There really is something for everyone, or at least that is what they hope.

With all that going on, the decorations still need to go up! Volunteer to help, and the gods will happily take suggestions and offer encouragement. Flowers, streamers, and all sorts of ornaments will fill the districts and the lawn as tents go up and everything is prepared for the main event.

FESTIVAL OPENS!
The day of the festival arrives, and the magic of the gods filters through to the main tents too. You thought you might have escaped that song about you, but out here by Njord’s tent it may find you again. Each tent is styled to suit the god it represents, and to help inform Wanderers about that god. Their strengths, their weaknesses, the jobs they offer, perhaps even their previous exploits. You might learn something new about your patron, or your fellow Wanderer’s patron. Indulge your curiosity, and perhaps help others indulge theirs...

Away from the tents, a large area has also been cleared for demonstrations. Here, Wanderers are permitted (even encouraged) to perform feats of magic without tiring. Magnificent acts of illusion, of shapechanging, elemental control—while you may not have had cause to demonstrate your god-given gifts before, here you can safely show off! Of course, such feats could also be thought of as training. After all, you never know when you might be called upon to defend Asgard—and practice, as they say, does make perfect.

Still, after all that excitement there is also plenty of food and drink to enjoy even as the day winds down.

As the sun begins to set, a large bonfire is slowly constructed in the demonstration space. In the cool night air, the flames provide both needed light and warmth. Pillows and blankets are set out, and warm drinks to help against the evening chill. The mood is solemn: here, you are encouraged to come and share stories. Stories, after all, have power—and yours is no exception. It has been proven more than once that strange things from the worlds of Wanderers will readily spill over into Asgard. Who knows what threat will emerge next? Will it be from your world? So, share your story. Tell us where you are from, and tell us what we should do to stay safe.

Knowledge is power, and we must all be prepared.

FESTIVAL DAY 2 & AFTER PARTY

The last day of the festival dawns. If you haven’t explored everything the gods have to offer, this is your chance before it all disappears. All the books, songs, challenges, puzzles—all of it will be gone by sunset. For now, the day is as unseasonably bright as the previous one, but there will also be something more tonight—an after party to close it all.

As a last gift, you can all stay out free from curfew on the palace lawn. Enjoy a relaxing drink (alcoholic, if you’re old enough!), one last gathering around the bonfire with your fellow Wanderers for a more cheerful night. Perhaps you might even dance with them! Enjoy the night sky, and in a final burst of magic enjoy the beautiful meteor show overhead.

TIDY UP AND RECOVER
Did you stay up too late? Did you eat or drink too much? Tired or not, there’s plenty of clearing up to be done—and perhaps, for those of you who learned some new things about each other, some conversations to be had too. Or, perhaps, some conversations to be avoided if you’re that way inclined. For now, all the books, music, puzzles and so on have vanished overnight and Asgard is back how it was—including the cooler weather. Wrap up warm, and get back to your jobs!
