( open ) a crowd of people looked away

Who: Jim Kirk & you!
What: Jim comes back from the dead, lets some people know he's alive after all, and generally tries to cope.
When: From the 23rd to the end of the month.
Where: farm, the Benatar, Sigyn's temple
Rating: PG-13 for mentions of dying and/or turning into a zombie and mindlessly killing/hurting other people, etc.

It's not the first time Jim goes through this.

His awakening is a little more taxing this time, and everything still seems to ache. But it's just as confusing, and it's just as messy, and Jim hates it just as much. At first it's not so hard to manage, not until all the memories start flooding in only a few minutes after he's awake.

He has a panic attack even before he steps outside. He doesn't know how long he wastes in there, between hyperventilating, crying, and checking his own body in a panic, as though he expects to find a stab wound or burn marks left behind. But no, there's not a scratch on him, not that he can see, anyway. He still doesn't feel ready to face the outside, but what else is he gonna do? He can't just hole himself up in here forever.

Granted, being out here doesn't mean he's even remotely ready to resume life as though nothing happened. He knows he wasn't the only one to die, he remembers it all too well. But he still doesn't know how to cope with all the memories, so he chooses a select few places where there aren't a lot of people around and he can find some modicum of peace, or at least more personal space.

Sigyn's temple is peaceful. Jim likes flowers too, and they're a comforting, soothing presence around him. He doesn't seek counsel from the goddess, he just appreciates a place where he can sit by himself. Where he can simply touch a flower bud and use his still weak powers to make it blossom into a huge, bright rose. That brings a sense of calm to his heart and a smile to his lips.

At times he'll be hiding away in Peter's ship. Probably taking advantage of his hospitality a little, but it's not like anyone should come look for him in one of those small rooms, where he holes himself up with some books, reading until he either passes out or has to step outside for something to eat or drink.

Last but not least, the farm he was setting up before that whole mess went down is where he spends most of his time. It's a quiet corner of the farmland, and between tending to the cows and chicken, cleaning the barn, and plowing or sowing the fields, at least he keeps himself busy, so it's easier to ignore all the memories of that expedition, of dying at the hands of those creatures, only to later turn into one of them.

He has to stop every so often, though, wincing as he rubs at his left shoulder. Something's been off with it ever since he came to, a soreness that spreads down the left side of his back, at times even going numb. It fades into something more tolerable soon enough, so he won't bother seeking anyone out about it.

He's got a feeling that sensation isn't going away anytime soon, anyway.
