tell me that you're alright, that everything is alright. ( closed )
Who: The Dysfunctional Hargreeves Brothers (Ben & Klaus)
What: Ben's freakin' out a little bit in the face of sudden war. Understanably.
When: Anywhere before October 18-19th
Where: Klaus's House
Rating: PG-13 for likely swearing (don't worry, they'll add their quarters to the swear jar like good boys)
[ It's strange. He doesn't mean to seek out his brother, but he supposes it's a natural stress reaction to want for the familiar. While he hasn't been actively avoiding his brother or anything, it's been a bit nice to have some space. After being literally tethered to him for such a long time, Ben was trying to find who he was.
Yet, here he is, in the dark of the night with his hood up and pounding on the door of the person who has defined him in so many ways for so long. He actually hasn't planned out what he exactly wants to discuss, but figures he'll cross that bridge if Klaus ever answers the door. C'mon, man, it's cold out here and the long he's left to his own thoughts the more he starts to worry this might have been a bad idea. ]

[ He is engulfed by the beanbag by now. Only his little footsies and head stick out of either end.
This really isn't the position he wanted to be having a serious conversation in, but here they are. ]
I don't know! We get tossed into crazy shit all the time, what would make this place be different? [ It had all seemed to good to be true. Still, he does take slight offense to that last bit and feels the need to clarify- ]
It's not that I can't take care of myself, I just didn't expect to have to come into this world swinging too.

tossing himself across the mattress for it, his fingers hook the comforter, drape it around his shoulders while he readjusts again, props his cheek up this time.]
Like, you didn't get his name? We do, yeah, and I guess nothing would. This time, it's just way fucking weirder.
[or in his opinion, anyway! and hey, it wasn't meant to be offensive for whatever it's worth?] I know that, Ben, sheesh! I'm telling you, you don't have to fight, alright? Plenty of other people will volunteer.
no subject
It was some viking-looking guy. Ivan? Ivar? I think.
[ Okay, okay. He maybe got a little testy there. It's just... hard. He doesn't want to be useless but he also understands the fear of losing the life he just got back.]
Yeah, for now. But I don't think we can avoid it forever.
no subject
Are you shitting me? [talk about zero to a hundred real quick—] He didn't hurt you, did he? Threaten to maim or disembowel you?
[if so, ivar should be expecting an angry text message later.
and maybe it's silly, but perhaps the gods would let them get away with it.] Don't worry, I've already volunteered. We're both Hargreeves', so maybe the gods will at least give us a pass this time.

The switch in gears makes Ben tense up a bit himself. He's a little surprised, actually, at the questions. ] Uh, no- He was, like, intense? He told me I needed to know how to fight, like I said, but... didn't actually hurt me or anything.
[ Actually, he didn't think Ivar seemed so bad. A little bit much for a first interaction, maybe, but not bad. ]
What do you mean you already volunteered?
no subject
wow, surprise there.] To be fair, I guess he wouldn't know that you're my brother. Still, kinda odd that he didn't immediately threaten you. [klaus, bud, have you ever thought the problem was you?
not really. although in his defense, he hadn't meant to sound rude— they can worry about that later, though.]
Exactly what it sounds like. I've volunteered to go out and help fight.
no subject
Maybe it was my irresistible charm. [ Sure.
His gears switch a little at that though. He sits up a bit in the bean bag chair, looking less like he's being devoured by it. There's a crease to his brow that should be familiar by now- Worry. ]
So you're telling me how dangerous it is but then, what, just go marching off yourself?
no subject
with an entirely deadpan expression,] Totally, [then he rolls his eyes and waves a dismissive hand, playfully buzzes his lips while burying further in the oversized fleece blanket, making himself quite comfortable even—
until he sees ben sitting more upright, getting that all too familiar look on his face, usually the one he has whenever klaus has made an idiotic decision. so, well-warranted as always, but.] I'm a healer, Ben. They're gonna need as many of those as possible.
no subject
Still, that's... not actually the answer he expected. He hasn't known Klaus to be entirely altruistic before. Maybe Asgard is changing him for the better in some ways. ]
Well, if it's for a good cause... I can't really stop you.
no subject
telekinesis notwithstanding, klaus feels like his strength has only gotten better during the stay here on asgard. so, pardon him for assuming here but—] I bet I'm stronger than you, though.
And since I can't just— [his fingers wiggle toward nothing in particular] —walk through you, wouldn't that be inconvenient?
no subject
I guess there might have been some advantages to being a ghost. [ Phrases he never thought he'd say. ]
So you're a healer now?
no subject
[following a shrug and an amused smirk,] I like you better alive, just sayin'.
Yeah, I guess so. [he shifts again, upturns his left hand, the cuff around his wrist glowing faintly when he calls upon the magic. translucent green moths momentarily wind around his fingers, fading away as quickly as they'd come.] Can also move shit with my mind.
no subject
[ He'd be absolutely willing to punch Klaus again for doing something stupid. ]
Telekinetic? That's pretty dope. I don't know what I can do yet, actually.
no subject
[honestly? punching can always be on the table for whenever klaus decides to do something stupid. just knock some sense back into him, it's fine.] Yeah, yeah, that's it. Definitely convenient. [he raises a hand, the cuff around his wrist glowing faintly as he activates the magic and floats a nearby book over to drop into ben's lap.]
‘Yet’ being the keyword there. Have you tried to summon— uh, well, you know? [he wiggles his fingers in an awful attempt at impersonating tentacles.] Just for funsies.
no subject
He barely catches the book, making a small noise as it lands. Okay. Yeah. That's definitely new. ]
Yeah, I tried my old powers but... Nothing. I guess I can't do anything like that anymore.
no subject
klaus grins at the noise, watches the glow fade from his cuff then returns his attention to ben again.]
So, that just means we'll have to figure out what kind of powers the gods gave you instead!
