The voice was strange enough for him to look up from his work. Seeing a young person with horns could've registered as demonic some time ago, especially with the accent the person carried, but after seeing dragons and a blue-skinned man from a different planet, Cadfael liked to think he had a cooler head then that.
Besides, he had seen the person-Cadfael could only guess it was a young man-around before; assisting the hospital with the wounded and such, therefor he couldn't be all that bad.
There's something in the young man's voice that reminds him of his native Welsh, if in lilt if not words. He didn't understand the address of 'mister', but he could guess the context well enough. "Brother," He corrected. "Not mister. I'm no one's master."
